Hate Fear and Racing a bike

Racing a bicycle has to be one of the most demanding and grueling sports on earth, however it is also one of the most satisfying sports in the world! Nothing short of the miracle of child birth can bring one to such a high of all highs as crossing the finish line first after a hotly contested 50 mile road race or 40 kilometer time trial. Think I am lying hell, you go out and do it and when you do, remember that moment and you will remember: That little shit was right, I am not talking about a top ten, top five or second place I am talking about winning!

But what drives a cyclist to race to the point of ones ultimate physical limit? Hate and fear that’s what. In order to go hard for what ever distance you have a cauldron of hate brewing inside you. Doesn’t matter what your hate is focused on at that point in time as long as that strong emotion is there driving every pedal stroke. Lets be honest you can brew this up any time. LA was a master at it, hell-old girl/ boy friend that was a dirt bag? Money problems? Took you 4 hours to get out of the house for a 60 min race man it could go on! But it will all work, build on that old emotion, not the give up pussy side of it but the real anger, the hate, the utter frustration you felt. Let it brew up in side of you and if you live one of those pansy ass lives just think of some one stealing one of your lip balms! Best be it though when you line up or get to the start point in a TT you better be pissed off like a hornet in spring time!

The Saying “Harden The Fuck Up” Comes to mind!

You see racing your bike hurts it hurts real bad but in the end if your mind is right you come to figure it out that the other MFers in the race are the ones that are making you suffer and if you can figure a way to make them suffer a tiny bit more you have a good chance of winning!

Fear is the next and potent driving force. NO one likes to look like or feel like a looser and if you are keen on this one emotion you can use it to drive your training to new levels. Ever wonder how people hit high peaks every year to win multiple titles? It s fear of loss man, that’s strong, money is a big thing for sure but loosing DEAR GOD no way. Fear of loss is one of the major driving forces in human kind. If you can identify this in your training and racing then you can build that emotion into a driving force that forces your training and aggressive racing towards one end, WINNING!

NO ONE, trains, diets, spends oodles of money, signs up for a race only to ultimately loose no FU^&*?g way folks. It doesn’t matter if you are in it to WIN and crush everyone’s hopes dreams and desires or to beat your last time and put that pathetic performance into your past. It doesn’t matter if you are scared enough of failure and can channel that energy and not let it immobilize you, scared as scared is you will ride your ass off!

Hate and fear eh it has negative overtones but it’s real, real as real can be. I gota tell ya when I see some dude meditating right before a race I know he has not done his home work.

Be mad and be scared channeled right you will be the scary guy in the peloton!

As requested next up doping ( better put that coffee away!)
